We Are the Featured Organization at Kickstand this Month!

Kickstand is a group of folks that looks to make our state better. From the website:

“Founded in 2000 by a handful of brave Boise start-ups that believed they could achieve greater success together, Kickstand is now a statewide non-profit comprised of Idaho’s most promising entrepreneurs and innovators.

We invent, we create, we patent, we pioneer. We champion Idaho’s innovators—in any industry—who seek the support of the local community to succeed and thrive.”

The event starts at 5:30 pm at the Watercooler building at 14th and Idaho in downtown Boise. We will be doing a short presentation and Q and A at 6 pm followed by a tour of the Boise Rock School studios!

We Are Putting On A Free Summer Camp!

Here at Boise Rock School we think that everyone deserves the chance to learn an instrument. As such, we are hosting a week of free rocking with 24 lucky students. We are targeting at-risk youth, refugees and those that can’t afford camp. Students should be between the ages of six and 18. The camp will take place at our downtown location (1404 West Idaho) the week of August 6-10, 1 pm – 3:30 pm. We are choosing students for this camp through a nomination process. Student nominations should be sent to info@boiserockschool.com with the subject heading “Free Camp”. Please include the students name, age and instrument choice and a brief description of why the student should attend an awesome week of rocking. To make the camp extra special we will be bringing on some past Boise Rock School staff and some VIM (Very Important Musicians) from the community as instructors. It will be awesome!

We are Hosting a Kid-Friendly Summer Concert Series!

At Boise Rock School we like music. Not just the music that we create (see http://boiserockschool.bandcamp.com/) but also
just about every other kind of music. Since Boise is chock full of some great musicians, we decided it would be really cool to host a concert series featuring some of the local talent. We also decided it would be really cool if the series was also focused on involving the youth of our area with some of the local talent.

A few things to note:
1) These shows will all feature a Boise Rock School band as the opener.
2) Music goes from 7-9 pm
3) Food and treats will be available.
4) Shows are free.
5) Shows take place at our downtown location at 1404 West Idaho.

Session Gig on March 20 and 21st at the Linen Building

That’s right, we are doing a two day Session Gig this time around. This will allow us to: 1) have some of our private lesson students perform, 2) allow our student bands to play longer sets and 3) have a special joint performance with the Idaho Shakespeare Festival’s School of Theater on March 21 at 7 pm.

Oh yeah, and this Session Gig is also serving as our album release party. Copies of the album will be available. Hope to see you there!
