WE ARE OFFERING AN AUDIO ENGINEERING CLASS!

What: Basics of Audio Engineering

When: every Thursday at 6:00pm for 5 weeks, starting July 1st

Where: Boise Rock School

Cost: $150

This 5-week course teaches fundamental concepts of audio recording, mixing, and mastering:

  • soundwaves and room acoustics
  • microphones, cables, and studio tools (mixers, EQ’s, compressors)
  • how to record various instruments (guitars, drums, vocals…)
  • effects (reverb, delay, chorus, flange…), mixing and mastering
  • digital recording concepts

No previous experience or knowledge required. No materials are required: a pen and paper is encouraged for taking notes…a recommended reading list will be provided.

Each class is 1.5 hours, lecture style (note-taking is encouraged) with hands-on examples of equipment, techniques, and audio samples. This class is perfect for the beginning engineer, musician, or home studio user.

The course will be taught by Casey Miller, a Boise area recording engineer, producer, and musician who has worked with numerous artists including Bill Coffey, Douglas Cameron, Matthew Hartz, Darren Smith, Straw Dogs and more.

2 Sessions; double camp discount: $250
3 Sessions; only $100/session for serious rockers: $300
Also, we offer a 10% discount to families with more than one registered student.

We are also offering an apprenticeship class for older/ more experienced students. This class will result in a very cool gig with Idaho Shakespeare Festival at the end of the summer. Check out more information and the application here.
