We have three basic programs:

a) The most popular option is to sign up for our after-school classes. These classes are weekly and meet our our downtown space (1187 West River). Enrollment is ongoing. Students in these classes will form a band of their own, learn cover songs, write original songs, learn the skills of group problem-solving, and get really good on their respective instruments. Classes are a mix of band and private instruction. Bands from the after-school classes are able to play around town at gigs in a variety of settings.

b) We are also able to set up an educational outreach program where we go to a specific school. These programs our tailored to fit the school’s needs. There are a number of school’s in the area that we work with. Please contact us for more details.

c) Camps! We offer camps during all of the school breaks–with our most popular camp being the summer camp. During the course of a camp kids form a band, choose a name, make a poster, learn a few songs (and maybe write their own!) and give a concert at the end of the camp. For older kids, we also offer an apprentice program that we partner with Idaho Shakespeare Festival.

At Boise Rock School, we are always coming up with offerings and classes. Three things we are working on for the immediate future are: 1) camps for adults, 2) Audio recording and engineering classes with our in-house expert Casey Miller and 3) A mentoring program to match students with local (adult) musicians.

The concerts are legendary.

Here is some video from the very first class we gave in the summer of 2008. The band’s name is Zap 5.
