Does my child need any experience?

No. We work with all ability levels and even encourage the kids to learn more than one instrument.

What types of classes do you offer?

We have three basic programs: ongoing classes that occur at our space, camps and outreach programs at your location. See “Programs/ Schedules” for more information.

What is Boise Rock School?

We are a small, independent music school that focuses on teaching kids how to make music together. Kids are able to form bands with their friends and go onto to conquer the world! (Or at least have a good time and learn music).

How much does it cost?

Costs vary depending on the class. For regular Boise Rock School classes at our location–cost is $125 a month. Our camps are generally $125-175/ camp.

For our regular classes, students pay a monthly tuition. The tuition fee is a monthly membership fee and missed lessons will not be made up. Please note that instructors are required to be prepared for every lesson and will be paid whether students are present or not. Payments are accepted by cash or checks made payable to Boise Rock School. Payments are expected on the first practice week of every month. In the event of a student joining mid-month, the fee will be prorated at a fee of $35 per lesson. Boise Rock School does not believe that any student should be excluded because of financial reasons and as such, financial Assistance is available upon request.

Where are you located?

Boise Rock School is located at 1187 River St., Boise, ID 83706 (in the Bronco Elite building)

Will my child perform and how often are performances?

Yes! all class are geared towards teaching your child to perform. Performances happen on a regular basis and have occurred at the Knitting Factory, The Linen Building, The Grove, The Library!, 2008 Trailapalooza event, The Record Exchange, various fundraisers and events at local schools, Donnie Mac’s Trailer Park Cuisine, 2009 Special Olympics, Fox news and radio stations throughout the Treasure Valley.

What is Boise Rock School’s favorite guitar?

We tend to favor Fender Telecasters. For acoustics we really like vintage Guild guitars (late 60s and early 70s are best). For basses, we really like American Made ‘62 reissue Fender Jazz basses.

Are instruments provided?

We can provide instruments for your student to play on during class time. However, for at-home practice time students will need to have access to their own instrument. We are able to offer “loaner” instruments for short periods of time.

What ages does my child need to be?

We prefer kids to be age 6-16.

Do you guys really like Def Leppard?

Ryan does. Jared says he does not (but that may be a lie.) One time, Ryan took Jared to a Def Leppard concert. Jared did not enjoy it.

When does the next class start?

Boise Rock School enrollment is ongoing. Please contact us for the most up-to-date information about our camps.
